How much does an assessment cost?
Assessments are billed at a flat fee for the entire evaluation, not per hour. The cost of your assessment will depend on the type of assessment and will be discussed with you prior to beginning the evaluation. Assessments range in price from $500 to $3250, depending on type. The cost of the assessment will depend on how comprehensive the evaluation is. Screening assessments typically cost less, while more comprehensive assessments cost more, as they take significantly more time.
Additional costs are possible for optional services, such as school observations, case consultation (once your assessment is completed), or other services that you may elect. These costs are billed at an hourly rate, in increments of 15 minutes.
Do you take insurance?
Keystone Psychological Testing & Consulting is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance. You may be able to be reimbursed for part or all costs of testing depending on your insurance benefits. A superbill will be provided for you at the conclusion of testing services which you can submit to your insurer.
Can I complete my assessment virtually?
Some assessments can be completed fully virtual. Other assessments may require one or more appointments to be completed in person, as some testing instruments are only able to be utilized face-to-face. Initial interviews and feedback appointments can almost always be completed virtually.
How soon can you see me?
We will do our very best to see you as soon as possible. Certain times of the year are busier than others. Depending on the time of the year, we may be able to see you right away or there may be a wait-time of several weeks. Send us a message and we will let you know within 24 hours how soon we can see you.
I have already completed testing in the past. Can I still participate in an assessment?
Most likely, yes. However, if you’ve completed testing recently, you may only need a consultation and review of your previous results. Further testing may be recommended as a result of consultation. Or you may receive recommendations for treatment, accommodations, or other next steps.
How long does the whole assessment process take?
It depends on the type of assessment. Your assessment will consist of:
- Intake interview (~1 hour)
- Testing (2-8 hours, depending on the type of assessment)
- Feedback and review of report (~1 hour)
Many assessments can be started, completed, and concluded with report received within a week or so. More comprehensive assessments may take a little longer. Screening assessments may be more abbreviated and can often be completed in a single day. One advantage of going out-of-network is that the testing process can be completed in a significantly shorter amount of time, as we do not have to wait for authorization of services.
Why is the no-show fee so much?
Your testing appointment reserves a large portion of the day. Unfortunately, if someone makes an appointment and cancels with little notice or does not show, it wastes a large slot of time that could have been given to another individual.
Good Faith Estimate
As a psychological testing client, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the costs associated with your testing before it begins. This estimate should include an itemized list of the services that will be provided, along with the associated costs. It is important to note that this estimate is not a guarantee of the final cost, as additional services or unexpected expenses may arise during the testing process. However, you have the right to receive an updated estimate if the final cost exceeds the original estimate by more than 10%.
You also have the right to be protected from surprise billing. This means that you should not be billed for services that were not included in the original Good Faith Estimate. If you ever receive a bill for unexpected services, you should contact the provider to discuss the charges and seek a resolution.
It is important to keep in mind that you have the right to choose your own testing provider, and should feel comfortable discussing any concerns you may have about costs or billing with the provider before testing begins.
